24th May 2002 - New Album Not Being Rushed
Dido has revealed that she isn't worried about trying to follow-up an
album as successful and as critically acclaimed as her debut 'No Angel'.
"The first album pretty much came together by itself," she explained, "but
I can't wait for people to get to hear the new one. I've started writing
the next album, because I really do just want to get on with it.
I've got so many songs and ideas, I want to get them down now."
Dido said she wasn't sure when the new album would be released.
24th May 2002 - Ivor Novello Award
In accepting her award yesterday, Dido said "Anyone who knows me knows how
much this means to me. Basically all I ever tried to do with my life is
experience as much, see as much, learn, do, feel as much as I possible
can and write about it. I feel so very lucky that so many people have
heard my songs around the world. I want to thank the people who signed me
as a songwriter six years ago when no one else was interested."
To be chosen from a roomful of 800 songwriters and singer-songwriters who
included Mick Hucknall of Simply Red, Kate Bush and Cathy Dennis, who
picked up a hat-trick of awards for songs written for Kylie Minogue and
Hear'say, was a real honour, she added. Many of those she had listened to
as a child won awards alongside her in what turned out to be largely a
celebration of the Eighties.
Sting paid tribute to Dido, naming her his songwriter of the moment as he
himself collected an International Achievement Award for his contribution
to the music world. He said knew what it was like to struggle to get
recognition and the difficulties involved in writing an outstanding song.
Dido, who took a decade to make her name, had overcome all these obstacles
and more to become his "favourite writer and an inspiration", he added.

3rd May 2002 - Dido And Bob Split
Dido has split up with the fiancé she was due to wed later this year, report
'The Sun'.
She has moved out of the London apartment she shared with lawyer Bob Page.
She is now being comforted by her brother, Rollo. The split comes a year
after Dido was planning to say "I do" to Bob. Friends are stunned by the
break-up of the couple, who have been dating for seven years. One pal said
"It was an amicable split. No one else is involved." And the friend
revealed the split was caused by Dido's punishing work schedule and her
phenomenal rise from unknown to international star. Dido famed for her
sensitive, confessional lyrics about relationships has been busy writing
a follow-up to her 'No Angel'. Ironically, the album's best track,
'Thank You', was inspired by and dedicated to Bob. The pal added "It's all
very sad. We were all wondering when the wedding would be, only to be told
that the relationship is over. There isn't anyone else involved or
anything like that. The pressures of being Dido and travelling the world
put an unnatural strain on their love. She's been away in the States but
has been spending time with her brother when she's here. He's been a great
shoulder to cry on. Bob and Dido are gutted but realise it wasn't working."
The couple, who met in a London club in 1995, postponed their
wedding last year because of career commitments. Bob, an entertainment
lawyer, is credited with helping to amass Dido's £10million fortune. The
couple were planning to swop their Fulham apartment for a £1.6million
house in Islington. Dido is expected to move in alone. Bob was last night
unavailable to talk about the break-up. Dido has had a traumatic few
months. Her father has been diagnosed as seriously ill with the disease
lupus.

the Best Contemporary Song award, and the PRS Most Performed Work award.
The 47th Ivor Novello Awards for British songwriters, composers and music
publishers will be held at Le Meridien Grosvenor House in London on
Thursday 23rd May 2002.

17th April 2002 - World Cup 2002
Dido's brother Rollo has recorded a theme tune for the BBC's World Cup
coverage this summer.
Rollo has mixed some of the commentary form England's 5-1 win over Germany.
The track is as yet untitled and the BBC have yet to confirm if it will be
used.
16th April 2002 - Less Faith In Gareth
It seems that Simon Cowell's BMG label may have stopped their own act Faithless
from knocking Gareth Gates (who is also on the BMG label) off the number 1
spot, report
'The Sun'.
Sales of 'One Step Too Far' were high enough to make them contenders
for number 1 at the beginning of last week. But record stores trying to
order more copies midweek were turned down by BMG and sales ground to a
halt as stock ran out. BMG say the move was designed to boost sales of Faithless'
album 'Outrospective'. It also ensured Pop Idol runner-up Gareth had a
fourth week at the top of the charts while Faithless had to settle for
number 6. 'One Step Too Far' sold just over 22,000 copies last week while
Gareth's 'Unchained Melody' sold 44,500 copies. Friends of Faithless say
they are far from happy at being denied the chance of a first chart
topping single in their seven year history. One friend said "They are
gutted. The band would have loved to have been up there at Number 1.
They've always regarded themselves as primarily an album band but it would
have been nice for them. The record company made the decision without any
of them knowing." BMG insist they stopped the supply of singles purely
because they wanted to boost the sales of 'Outrospective', which was
released in June 2001. A band spokeswoman said "Their management wanted
people to buy the album, which has the single on it." And so it seems that
worked 'Outrospective' climbed back up 70 places from number 139 to
number 69. But the radio mix of 'One Step Too Far' is a different version
to the one on 'Outrospective'.
'One Step Too Far' deserved to be number 1 and it should have got there.
14th April 2002 - UK Chart
This week
'One Step Too Far'
entered the singles chart at number 6 and in the album chart
'No Angel'
went back up 1 place to number 21.

19th February 2002 - Security Guards

American fans because they are becoming more difficult to handle.
Dido explained, "In America it is always more hectic. I can't go shopping
without security and it can be very difficult and that's intimidating.
The autograph hunters are a different breed there and they're very
aggressive. They'd kill for a signature.
There have been incidents where the police have had to shut down an
entire freeway so we can get away from cars chasing. It can be frightening."
And the songwriter admits she feels much safer in Britain, where she's
able to blend into the crowd.
