In the world of sports betting, horseracing is considered to be one of the most popular types of betting sports with thousands of local and online bets placed on each race. In the days before online betting, anyone who wanted to place a bet on the race would have to drive down to the track and bet in person. Today all of that has changed. With online betting, anyone can bet on any horse race, anywhere in the world. But when it comes to racing, there are many term like Getting out Stakes and bets that most bettors just don’t understand. In the notes below, we are going to look at some of the most popular bets and terms for horseracing.
Beginner Bets and Terms
If you are new to the world of horseracing, the good news is that many of the bets are actually quite easy to understand. Horse betting can be as simple or as complicated as you wish to make it. In general, there are three different types of bets that can be placed on a horse race, these being straight bets, multi bets and exotic bets. Straight bets are the most simple and are perfect for beginners, multi and exotic bets are for the more experienced bettors. One of the most common terms you will here at a horse race is “Getting out Stakes”. This is a widely accepted term for the last race of the day.
Getting Out Stakes
In horseracing, a day at the track means multiple races. There may be one major race that takes place but the betting can be done on multiple races. The term “getting out stakes” is used to describe the last racing event of the day. For any bettor who has continually lost money throughout the day, the last race offers an opportunity to “get out” with money in hand. In most cases, the last race of the day offers a wide mix of betting options and is usually the most diverse of all the races.
Strait Bets
On any of the races including the getting out stakes, straight bets include a straight win, a placing bet and an each way bet. A straight win bet is a simple bet where a bettor choses the winning horse in the race. A placing bet is where a bettor must chose a horse that will place in the top three. An each way bet is a bet that combines the first two where a bettor accurately choses the first horse as well as another horse in the top three.
Multi and Exotic Bets
For more experienced bettors, multi and exotic bets can be placed on the getting out stakes or on any of the races that take place during day. Examples of multi and exotic bets include quinella, exact and trifecta bets. A quinella bet is where a bettor pics two horses to win and place second regardless of the order. NRL bets online is similar but the order has to be precise. A trifecta bet is a bet where a bettor actually pics the winner, second place and third place in a single race.
